Hypostasis is designed primarily to provide support for people with type 1
diabetes (previously known as juvenile onset or insulin dependent diabetes mellitus [IDDM]),
but also for their friends and family, and anyone else with an
interest in type 1 diabetes.
Since there are zillions of diabetic sites available which can look after
the general needs of diabetics better than we can, our purpose here
is to offer peer support through a variety of
links, a message forum and live
chat
area, a list of international support
groups and events, our unique game of
testlotto, and a spot to
submit
or read articles/anecdotes and stories.
We also provide product reviews written by
our members, or you can submit your own.
For security and to avoid spam, you *must* be a member to participate in chat and to contribute to the forum;
however all pages except for chat are available for viewing by non-members, and site membership is free.
The forum is a "real time" communications tool.
You can read other's messages, and if you're a site member you can leave one of your own,
or respond to something already posted.
Forum messages appear as soon as you enter them (just make sure you
hit refresh to see recent additions). The forum is really the heart
of hypostasis and is designed to let you get in contact with others
who may be able to give you help, friendship, ideas, reassurance or
generally sympathise with your whine about diabetes - peer support! The chat area is
also a live, real time resource to share ideas, problems etc, but
feedback is limited by who is actually in there at the time you are!
Chat is logged to ensure protection of members, and is open only to site members.
Although we do not read logs routinely, we will do so if we have a complaint
or are concerned for a member's welfare, to verify whether action is necessary.
Inappropriate forum messages will be removed and you may have your access terminated.
These include personal abuse and trying to sell products via this site.
If, however, you know of a product you're not trying to sell that may
be useful to others, feel free to tell people!
